About the Author: Charlotte Stein
What would you like readers to know about you?
That I was first published fifteen years ago, by Black Lace. And that since then I went from small publisher to ebook publisher to digital first publishers until I landed my first trade paperback deal with a contemporary trilogy of romcoms about fabulous curvy women and the fake dating shenanigans they get up to. Consequently, I have a huge backlist of steamy, deeply emotional books. And there’s lots more to come!
What music do you listen to (if any) when you write?
I tend to have a playlist for each WIP, and it’s just whatever vibe the story has. Most recently was my upcoming paranormal romance, How To Help A Hungry Werewolf, and the playlist included Seventeen by Sharon Van Etten, Out Of The Woods, by Taylor Swift, Now I’m In It, by Haim and Vampire, by Olivia Rodrigo.
What books or authors inspired you to become a writer?
Definitely The Vampire Diaries, by LJ Smith. But also Stephen King, Emma Holly, Christopher Pike.
About the Book: When Grumpy Met Sunshine
What is your book about for those who haven’t read it?
When Grumpy Met Sunshine is about Mabel Willicker, a curvy, sunshiney sweetheart, who agrees to ghostwrite memoirs for a grumpy Roy Kent-ish ex-footballer, Alfie Harding. They banter and bicker and along the way, steamy fake dating shenanigans ensue!
What has been your inspiration for writing it?
Mainly wanting something like Ted Lasso, but it’s a curvy girl getting to have all the fun! Plus I just love romcoms, and wanting to delve into all of those juicy tropes and swoons myself.
What was your favorite scene or part of your book to write?
Definitely the back seat of the car after the concert. They steam up the windows, let’s put it that way.
Where can your book be purchased?
All good retailers! But here’s a link with some on there:
To the Future Writer:
What advice would you give to aspiring authors who want to write a book?
Read, watch movies, watch television. Immerse yourself in characters, and what makes them sing. What makes them engrossing. And as much as you’re able to, keep going. I know it’s not possible for everyone for all kinds of horrid reasons, but if it’s just you telling yourself the dream is never going to happen, try not to stop. I almost did, and if I had none of this would have happened.
What’s next for you? Any events, upcoming pubs, etc.
Up next is my paranormal romance, How To Help A Hungry Werewolf! It’s the first in a trilogy called The Sanctuary For Supernatural Creatures, and it’s out October 1st. And then after that is my second romcom, My Big Fat Fake Marriage, and that’s out March 11th next year.
